Doctor Who: 'That's it' as Russell T Davies reveals series 14 finale twist

SPOILER ALERT: This article contains spoilers for the Doctor Who series 14 finale, 'Empire of Death'

Russell T Davies has revealed that the series 14 finale of Doctor Who will end on a cliffhanger.

The showrunner, who is returning to Doctor Who after a 12-year absence, said that the finale will leave viewers "on the edge of their seats" when it airs on BBC One this autumn.

"I can't say too much, but I can tell you that it's a big, epic finale that will leave you wanting more," Davies said.

The series 14 finale, titled 'Empire of Death', will see the Doctor (David Tennant) and her companions Yasmin Khan (Mandip Gill), Dan Lewis (John Bishop) and Vinder (Jacob Anderson) face their greatest challenge yet.

The episode will also introduce a new character called Louise, played by Rose Tyler actress Billie Piper.

Davies said that Louise is "an ordinary woman who finds herself caught up in extraordinary events".

"She's a survivor, and she's going to need all her strength to get through what's coming," Davies said.

The series 14 finale of Doctor Who will air on BBC One this autumn.
